Ware County ARES is a group of volunteer amateur radio operators that dedicate their time and skills to the citizens of Ware County in time of disaster.

Currently Ware County ARES has a full operational room located at the Ware County Public Safety Administration Building in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC)located at 3395 Harris Road, Waycross, GA, and a Mobile Communications Bus.

Anytime the Ware County (EOC) is activated Ware County ARES is also activated and the dedicated group of amateur radio operators report to the EOC for their assignments.

When disaster strikes Ware County whether it is a man made disaster or natural disaster Ware County ARES works closely with the Ware County Emergency Management Agency, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida and other agencies to provide Emergency Communications.

During the 2004 Hurricane Season when Ware County was impacted by Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Frances and Hurricane Jeanne Ware County ARES staffed the EOC before, during and after the storms assisting in emergency communications. Amateur radio played a vital role by passing emergency messages, communicating with other amateur radio operators in Florida, Alabama and South Carolina to get updates on the storms and passing vital information to public safety personal.
